Guinean singer Elie Kamano says his teenage children were abducted

Guinean musician Elie Kamano, who has been living in exile, says several members of his family were kidnapped over the weekend in Conakry.

In a video posted on social media on Sunday, Kamano said two of his children, aged 14 and 16, along with his 16-year-old nephew and his brother, a gendarme, were taken from his home on Saturday night.

He claimed that “men in balaclavas entered my home”, describing a sudden overnight raid. An AFP journalist who visited the residence on Sunday reported few visible signs of forced entry aside from a broken doorknob.

Guinean security authorities have not yet commented on the alleged abductions.

The incident has triggered strong reactions across the country’s political landscape. Exiled opposition leader and former prime minister Cellou Dalein Diallo condemned the kidnapping and called for urgent answers.
