Hamas chief in Cairo for talks on Gaza truce

Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh is in Cairo for discussions with Egyptian officials regarding the political situation, field conditions, and efforts to halt aggression while providing relief to citizens.

The talks aim to achieve the goals of the Palestinian people. Despite recent meetings, there has been limited progress in securing a truce with Israel, as indicated by mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and the US.

Haniyeh reiterated Hamas’s demands, including a ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, an end to the blockade, and safe shelter for displaced Palestinians.

The conflict has resulted in casualties on both sides, with Hamas reporting thousands of civilians dead for Gaza.
