An investigation has been launched in Mali following a deadly terror attack in Tizawatene.
Ukrainian officials are reportedly involved, according to a statement by the Malian prosecutor on Thursday.
Prosecutor Amadou Bocar stated the investigation aims to clarify the allegations of terrorism, complicity, and financing.
The goal is to uncover the full extent of the incident and those involved.
Bocar’s remarks followed comments by Andriy Yusov, a spokesperson for Ukrainian military intelligence.
Yusov indicated Ukraine’s role in an attack that resulted in the death of Malian defense forces members.
Additionally, statements by Ukrainian ambassador Yurrii Pyvovarov, supporting international terrorism, particularly in Mali, have intensified the investigation.
Bocar assured that the perpetrators will be identified and prosecuted.
This decision follows the severing of ties between Mali, Niger, and Ukraine, triggered by Ukraine’s alleged support for terrorism linked to the Tizawatene attack.
This attack resulted in the death of Russian Wagner group mercenaries assisting the Malian army.
