Mass graves unearthed in Tanzania ritual killings

Tanzanian police uncovered ten bodies, including a two-month-old infant, linked to ritual killings in Singida and Dodoma. This discovery follows the investigation into three deaths at a traditional healer’s home.

The healer, Nkamba Kasubi, confessed to the murders, leading police to more graves in Dodoma. Victims include Seni Jishabi, Mohamed Juma, and Daudi Msanku, whose remains were disposed of in disturbing ways.

Other victims include two infants, reportedly buried alive, and 80-year-old Ramadhani Bakari Kilesa, whose body was found in a Game Reserve. Suspects admitted to burying victims according to superstitious rituals.

The police urged the public to combat superstitious practices that fuel such killings. Ritual murders, often targeting people with albinism, continue to be a grave issue in Tanzania, despite ongoing government efforts.

The Tanzanian government has created special police units and launched awareness campaigns, but deeply rooted cultural beliefs still drive secretive ritual killings in some communities.
