Mass protests erupt across Morocco Mauritania and Yemen for Gaza

Mass demonstrations erupted Friday in Morocco, Mauritania, and Yemen, with thousands rallying in solidarity with Palestinians and demanding an end to Israeli military actions in Gaza.

In Morocco, protests were organized by the Moroccan Commission for Advocating the Nation’s Causes, with demonstrators calling for humanitarian aid access to Gaza. Major rallies took place in Tangier, Meknes, Oued Zem, Taroudant, Fquih Ben Salah, and Jerada, where protesters waved Palestinian flags and chanted against Israeli aggression.

In Mauritania’s capital, Nouakchott, hundreds gathered to denounce what they described as Israel’s continued genocide in Gaza. Protesters held Palestinian banners and voiced support for Palestinian resistance efforts.

Meanwhile, in Yemen, tens of thousands participated in a massive rally in the Houthi-controlled capital, Sanaa, marking International Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Day. Additional protests were held in Al-Hudaydah, Saada, and Dhale. These demonstrations came as the U.S. continued air raids on Houthi-controlled areas following the group’s attacks on Israeli-linked vessels in the Red Sea.

The protests coincided with Israel’s renewed offensive on Gaza, which began on March 18, killing nearly 900 people and injuring nearly 2,000. Since October 2023, more than 50,200 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed, and over 114,000 wounded in Israeli attacks.
