Morocco’s unemployment rate rose slightly to 13.6% in the third quarter of this year, up from 13.5% during the same period last year, according to a report by the national statistics agency, HCP.
This increase is largely attributed to job losses in the agriculture sector, which continues to struggle due to ongoing drought conditions.
By September, Morocco had 1.63 million people unemployed. The jobless rate was especially high among young people at 39.5%, while graduates faced an unemployment rate of 19.8%, and women 20.8%, the report noted.
