David van Weel, the Dutch Minister of Justice, posted the news on his official X account, expressing hope for swift action. He stressed the importance of international cooperation in the fight against organized crime.
Leijdekkers, a notorious cocaine smuggler, has been on Europe’s most-wanted list for some time. Sources with direct knowledge claim that the fugitive is currently receiving high-level protection in Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone’s Information Ministry revealed last month that it was looking into media reports surrounding Leijdekkers’ presence and protection in the country.
