Boko Haram terrorists killed at least 12 people in the Bokko Ghide community of Borno State, northeast Nigeria, on Saturday, a local leader confirmed on Sunday.
The victims included two vigilantes ambushed on the Kirawa road and ten civilians collecting firewood.
Gwoza Emir Mohammed Timta stated that injured survivors are receiving treatment in Maiduguri, and residents now fear going to their farmlands for preparations ahead of the rainy season.
The attack occurred just 48 hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu dispatched top defense officials to Borno State.
This followed Governor Babagana Zulum’s warning about the regrouping and increasing deadliness of terrorists in the Lake Chad region.
