The Transmission Company of Nigeria is actively working to restore electricity after nationwide blackouts were triggered by another collapse of the power grid on Monday night.
Power generation dropped to zero, but by Tuesday morning, some plants in the capital, Abuja, and parts of the commercial city had begun to come back online. In recent times, the daily average power supply has remained around 4,500 megawatts, marking the sixth grid failure this year.
The persistent issues with Nigeria’s power grid are attributed to aging infrastructure, vandalism, and insufficient gas supply for the thermal plants, which contribute over 75% of the country’s electricity output.
