Peace Government congratulates Sudanese Christians on Christmas

The Government of Peace and Unity congratulated Sudanese Christians and the wider public on Christmas, calling for religious coexistence, tolerance and an end to the war.

In a statement issued by its Council of Ministers and published by Assayha, the government said the holiday was an opportunity to reinforce values of diversity, mutual respect and what it described as the shared human message of religions rooted in love and rejection of extremism and terrorism.

The Council also urged Sudanese to uphold social and religious peace and to work collectively toward ending the conflict and building what it called a just, sustainable peace.

The statement reiterated the government’s position in favour of establishing a unified, secular Sudanese state “at equal distance from all religions,” grounded in the people’s will and the principles of equal citizenship, justice and human dignity.
