Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye will visit France this week, marking his first official trip outside Africa, his office announced Tuesday.
Inaugurated on April 2, Faye will attend the Global Forum for Vaccine Sovereignty and Innovation, aiming to bolster Africa’s health crisis management.
Faye will arrive in France, the former colonial power, on Wednesday, with the summit set for Thursday.
Following the event, President Emmanuel Macron will host Faye for lunch, highlighting Senegal and France’s strong political and economic ties.
However, Faye, a left-wing pan-Africanist, emphasizes that these partnerships must be mutually beneficial and respect Senegal’s sovereignty.
