Abdulrahman Yousif Al-Adala, Somalia’s Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, confirmed in a statement the killing of around 27 members of the Al Shabaab terror group in a military operation carried out by the national army forces last night in the Odeghli area of the Lower Shebelle province.
The forces managed to destroy several sites and vehicles used by terrorist Al Shabaab militias during the operation.
After destroying the extremist Al Shabaab militias’ sites, the forces conducted extensive combing operations in the area to track down the remnants of the militias and enhance security and stability in the region.
It is worth mentioning that the national army has recently intensified military operations to eliminate the remnants of the extremist Al Shabaab militias from the few remaining areas.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has recently declared a military offensive against Al Shabaab to eradicate the Al Qaeda-linked group within the next five months.
