Somali commandos kill 19 al-Shabaab fighters in Lower Juba

Somali forces recently eliminated 19 al-Shabaab terrorists. The operation unfolded in Somalia’s Lower Juba province on Monday.

The Defense Ministry confirmed the significant achievement. The Somali National Army’s elite Danab commandos led the assault.

They received crucial support from the Jubaland Darawish Force. International backing also aided this vital mission.

The engagement occurred near Baqooqaha, west of Buulo Xaaji. Troops now firmly control the area.

They continue clearing al-Shabaab hideouts and intricate tunnels. The forces are recovering the bodies of the slain militants.

This action deals a crippling blow to the terror group. Over the past five days, intensive operations achieved notable success.

Planned strikes and successive airstrikes were meticulously executed. More than 50 al-Shabaab terrorists met their demise.

These actions severely impact their ability to terrorize civilians. Tragically, two Somali armed forces soldiers sacrificed their lives.

Five other brave service members sustained injuries. Their ultimate sacrifice underscores the conflict’s harsh reality.

The ministry reaffirmed its steadfast resolve. They are committed to eradicating the al-Qaeda-affiliated Khawarij threat.

Securing Somalia’s population remains their paramount objective. Khawarij is the government’s term for al-Shabaab.

Somalia has long grappled with pervasive insecurity. Al-Shabaab and ISIS pose persistent, grave threats.

Al-Shabaab has battled the government for over 16 years. The group frequently targets officials and military personnel.
