Tanzania confirms second student killed in Israel by Hamas

Israeli authorities have confirmed the death of the second Tanzanian student who had been missing since October, marking a distressing turn in the ongoing situation.

Joshua Mollel, who ventured to Israel in mid-September for an agricultural internship, vanished on 7th October during the harrowing incident at Kibbutz Nahal Oz, where numerous residents were attacked.

According to Tanzania’s Foreign Affairs Minister, January Makamba, Israeli officials have substantiated that Mr. Mollel was killed on the day he was taken hostage by Hamas gunmen.

Loitu Mollel, Joshua’s father, has been officially informed of his son’s death, Minister Makamba stated.

“We are planning to take Mr Mollel, another family member and a government official to Israel to get more information on the matter,” Mr Makamba posted on X, formerly Twitter.

In a statement released on Facebook, authorities at Kibbutz Nahal Oz disclosed that Mr. Mollel’s remains are being held by Hamas.

This report emerges a few weeks subsequent to the burial of another Tanzanian student, Clemence Felix Mtenga, who fell victim to the 7th October attack.

Both Tanzanian students had embarked on their journey to Israel as part of a study program, arriving just a month prior to the devastating assault.
