Turkey’s Erdogan, Somalia’s Mohamud discuss bilateral ties

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud discussed bilateral, regional, and global issues on Monday, according to Turkey’s Communications Directorate.

President Erdogan emphasized Turkey’s commitment to Somalia’s territorial integrity and unity during the call, as per a statement on X by the communications office.

Erdogan pledged ongoing support for Somalia’s fight against terrorism and continued mediation efforts in the Somalia-Ethiopia conflict, which has escalated since Ethiopia’s port deal with Somaliland.

The Turkish President highlighted that bilateral collaboration, especially in energy and defense, will keep progressing.

Erdogan assured that Turkey’s dedication to aiding Somalia in various sectors remains strong and unwavering.
