The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) announced the immediate suspension of all defense and military cooperation with Germany on Sunday.
This decision follows “credible intelligence reports” alleging that the current German Ambassador to Uganda, Mathias Schauer, is involved in “subversive activities” within the country.
Col. Chris Magezi, the acting director of Defense Public Information, made this claim in a statement released on X.
Magezi stated that this suspension will remain in effect until a “full resolution” is reached regarding Schauer’s alleged connections to “hostile pseudo political-military forces” operating against the Ugandan government.
