A 25-year-old serial killer, Musa Musasizi, has been sentenced by the High Court in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, to serve 105 years in prison.
The verdict comes after Musasizi pleaded guilty to the murder of three women, described as his girlfriends, as well as a three-month-old girl who was the offspring of one of his victims.
According to court proceedings, Musasizi engaged in romantic relationships with these women before perpetrating acts of sexual assault and murder against them. Subsequently, he disposed of their bodies by burning them.
Justice Margaret Mutonyi emphasized the necessity of the lengthy sentence, citing the imperative to safeguard young women, including Musasizi’s six-year-old daughter, as reported by the privately-owned NTV channel.
Musasizi’s arrest in March 2021 was on suspicion of killing five women and an infant. He was convicted for the murder of one woman in July.
During the trial, Musasizi’s lawyer implored the judge for leniency, highlighting the defendant’s challenging upbringing as a former street child.
