At least 50 people were injured in violent protests in Mozambique after the Constitutional Council declared Daniel Chapo the winner of the contested October 9 presidential election.
Protests erupted following the announcement, with opposition supporters accusing the government of electoral fraud.
Demonstrators were reported to have vandalized public facilities, including police stations and gas stations.
The protests, which started in late October, have resulted in over 130 deaths, according to human rights groups.
Security forces have been accused of using excessive force to suppress the unrest.
Opposition leader Venancio Mondlane urged his supporters to continue protesting, promising eventual victory.
In response, South Africa called for calm and offered assistance to facilitate dialogue between the parties to resolve the crisis.
