Zimbabwe faces another drought threat

Zimbabwe is facing the threat of another severe drought, raising concerns about a potential food crisis.

The country has already been grappling with the devastating effects of the El Niño-induced drought that has plagued Southern Africa.

Despite hopes for a reprieve with the onset of the rainy season in October, the country has received minimal rainfall, leaving the ground parched and crops withering.

Millions of Zimbabweans are already struggling with food insecurity, and the prospect of another failed rainy season could exacerbate the situation.

The World Food Programme is warning of a potential humanitarian crisis and has called for urgent action to address the growing food needs.

The government of Zimbabwe has implemented measures to mitigate the impact of the drought, but the challenges remain significant.

Climate change, coupled with economic and political instability, has further compounded the country’s vulnerability to food shortages.
