Brazil’s Foreign Minister, Mauro Vieira, stated the 11-nation group firmly rejected protectionism, though without directly mentioning Trump.
The US has imposed tariffs on numerous countries, with China facing significantly higher levies.
In response, China has implemented its own tariffs on US goods.
The BRICS bloc, a forum for non-Western powers, emphasized its “absolute consensus” against trade conflicts and tariffs.
While no joint statement was issued, the ministers, meeting before a leaders’ summit, expressed unified concern.
