Morocco and Mauritania have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing strategic projects aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.
King Mohammed VI of Morocco and Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani met Friday at the Royal Palace in Casablanca to discuss collaboration on key initiatives.
Both leaders highlighted the “positive momentum” in their partnership and stressed the importance of coordinating efforts on projects like the Afro-Atlantic gas pipeline, also known as the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline.
They also discussed an initiative to improve Sahel countries’ access to the Atlantic Ocean, first proposed by King Mohammed VI in November 2023. The project has gained support from Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, and Niger.
The Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline, signed in 2016, spans 5,600 kilometers through 13 African nations. It aims to enhance energy access and boost regional development.
The meeting solidified Morocco and Mauritania’s shared vision for a more integrated and prosperous Africa.
