Morocco records historic tourism surge as arrivals near 20 million

Morocco welcomed nearly 20 million tourists in 2025, marking a record-breaking year for the North African kingdom, the tourism ministry said. The country received 19.8 million visitors, reflecting a 14 percent rise compared with the previous year, according to official figures.

The ministry described the surge as a historic achievement, highlighting tourism’s growing role in Morocco’s economic and cultural influence. Tourism revenues climbed above $13 billion, representing a 19 percent increase from 2024, driven by higher arrivals and longer stays.

Officials credited the growth to expanded air connections, improved services, and a broader range of tourism experiences across the country. Morocco’s hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations football tournament has further boosted its global visibility and travel appeal.

Looking ahead, authorities aim to attract 26 million tourists annually by 2030, positioning Morocco as a leading destination in Africa.
