Deadly US, UK airstrikes hit Yemen residential areas

The death toll from US and UK airstrikes on Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, has risen to 13, with nine others wounded, according to the Iranian-backed Houthi group.

Enis al-Asbahi, a spokesperson for the Houthis’ Health Ministry, confirmed the casualties, condemning the attacks as a war crime and a violation of international law.

He accused the Western powers of deliberately targeting civilians.

Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah television reported that the strikes hit residential neighborhoods in the Shu’aub district in northern Sanaa.

Witnesses described powerful explosions in the Geraf neighborhood, further intensifying fears among civilians.

US President Donald Trump defended the strikes, calling them a “powerful” and “decisive” response to Houthi aggression.

In a statement on Truth Social, he warned, “Your time is up, and your attacks must stop, starting today.

If they don’t, hell will rain down upon you like nothing you have ever seen before.”

The Houthis have been targeting Israeli-linked vessels in the Red Sea with missiles and drones since late 2023, claiming solidarity with Gaza.

They halted attacks in January after a ceasefire was declared but threatened to resume them when Israel restricted aid to Gaza following the first phase of the ceasefire’s expiration on March 2.
