Egypt has directed its airlines to steer clear of Iranian airspace for a three-hour window early Thursday morning, amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.
According to a Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) issued on Wednesday, the restriction will be in place from 0100 to 0400 GMT.
The notice specified that Egyptian carriers must not overfly the Tehran Flight Information Region (FIR) during this period, and flight plans will not be accepted for routes through this area.
In a related move, Jordanian authorities have required all airlines landing at its airports to carry an additional 45 minutes’ worth of fuel.
Amid growing concerns over a potential wider conflict following the deaths of senior Hamas and Hezbollah members, many airlines are adjusting their schedules to avoid Iranian and Lebanese airspace, and suspending flights to Israel and Lebanon.
Regional airspace, including Jordan’s, had been previously closed due to aerial attacks on Israel earlier this year.
