Egypt welcomed US President Donald Trump’s remarks on ongoing efforts to reduce tensions with Iran.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said Cairo continues intensive diplomatic contacts to prevent escalation and avoid sliding into regional chaos.
“Egypt welcomes all initiatives that reduce tensions and pave the way for de-escalation and ending the war,” the ministry added.
It urged all parties to seize the moment, prioritising dialogue to halt escalation and ultimately bring the conflict to an end.
Trump said Monday he had ordered a five-day postponement of strikes on Iranian power plants amid “very productive” talks with Tehran.
Regional tensions have surged since February 28, when a US-Israeli joint offensive on Iran killed over 1,340 people, including Ali Khamenei.
Tehran has responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military assets.
These attacks have caused casualties, damaged infrastructure, and disrupted global markets and aviation, heightening fears of wider conflict.
Egypt’s call for dialogue reflects growing concern among regional powers to prevent escalation into full-scale war in the Middle East.
