Hamas has agreed not to participate in governing Gaza in the near future, Egyptian media reported Saturday.
Al-Qahera News cited a source saying Egypt is working to form a temporary committee to oversee relief and reconstruction.
“Hamas confirms its commitment to the ceasefire agreement and will not take part in Gaza’s administration,” the source stated.
The ceasefire, in effect since January 19, halted Israel’s offensive, which has killed over 48,200 Palestinians and devastated Gaza.
Israel faces genocide allegations at the International Court of Justice, while its leaders face war crimes charges at the International Criminal Court.
