Israel’s military reported Thursday that it intercepted a drone attempting to smuggle weapons from Egyptian territory into Israel on Wednesday.
The interception follows recent Israeli claims that Palestinian group Hamas has used tunnel systems along the Egypt-Gaza border to transport arms during the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Egyptian authorities, however, state they dismantled these tunnels and established secure buffer zones to prevent smuggling.
In a similar incident earlier in October, Israel’s military said it downed another drone coming from Egypt, loaded with firearms and ammunition.
