Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi said Saturday that his forces will enter Gaza to carry out an “operational mission with the aim of eliminating Hamas members,” according to a statement by the military, which was reviewed by an Anadolu’s correspondent.
The message was conveyed during a speech by Halevi to the leaders of the Golan Brigade, one of the elite brigades.
“We will enter the Gaza Strip; we will engage in an operational mission to eliminate individuals affiliated with Hamas,” he said. “We will also remember the images and scenes of those who lost their lives on the Saturday two weeks ago.”
“Gaza is a complex and densely populated area, and the enemy (referring to Hamas) is preparing many things within it. Nevertheless, we are also making our preparations,” he said.
He emphasized that during the ground maneuver, all capabilities of the Israeli military will be at our disposal.
