Kuwaiti Premier League club Kazma initially celebrated a 7-1 friendly victory over Egyptian opponents Telephonat Beni Suef, only to discover that their rivals were actually an amateur team with no affiliation to the Egyptian side.
The match, held at Kazma’s training camp in Alexandria, was marred by deception. Organizers apologized, admitting they had been misled into believing the rival team was from Telephonat Beni Suef, who play in Egypt’s third tier.
According to Egyptian media, Kazma had faced a group of amateur players, and Telephonat Beni Suef later denied any involvement in the game. This revelation sparked a heated exchange on social media.
The Kuwaiti club issued a statement holding the organizers responsible and demanding an apology. StarMaker Football, the company behind the camp, issued an apology for the “unintentional mistake” and clarified that they had been deceived by an individual falsely claiming to represent Telephonat Beni Suef.
Egypt’s Football Association has promised to cooperate with Kuwaiti officials to investigate the incident and announced that no further friendlies with foreign teams will be permitted without its authorization.
