Macron plans Gaza talks with leaders of Egypt and Jordan

French President Emmanuel Macron announced a trilateral summit with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II to address the escalating Gaza crisis.

The summit aims to discuss the urgent situation amidst Israel’s ongoing military actions in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.

Macron shared the announcement on X, highlighting the critical need for regional dialogue.

Macron is scheduled to arrive in Cairo Sunday evening for talks with President al-Sisi on Monday morning.

The trilateral summit will proceed later that same day in the Egyptian capital.

His visit comes as Israel intensifies its efforts to seize Gaza territory, citing the need to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas.

Following the summit, Macron will travel to El-Arish, an Egyptian port near Gaza, on Tuesday.

He intends to meet with humanitarian and security personnel, underscoring France’s commitment to a ceasefire.

El-Arish serves as a crucial transit point for international aid destined for the Gaza Strip.
