Palestine is planning to apply for BRICS membership following the summit scheduled for October in Kazan, Russia.
The announcement was made by Palestinian ambassador to Moscow, Abdel Hafiz Nofal.
According to the Russian news agency TASS, Palestine will officially submit its BRICS application after participating in the summit, which will be attended by key global leaders.
Ambassador Nofal mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin assured a dedicated session focusing on Palestine during the event, underscoring Russia’s commitment.
Previously, President Putin extended an invitation to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for the summit, highlighting Palestine’s determination for growth despite ongoing conflicts.
BRICS, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, recently expanded by admitting Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE as full members in 2024.
