
Russian President Vladimir Putin is leading with 87% in the country’s presidential elections, as per exit poll data released by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center.
Following Putin is the Communist Party’s Nikolai Kharitonov with 4.6%, while Vladislav Davankov from the New People party secured 4.2% of the vote.
Leonid Slutsky, leader of the LDPR, received 3% of the vote, with 1.2% of ballots invalidated.
The Russian Public Opinion Research Center, a state-owned polling institution, conducted the elections both at polling stations and through remote electronic means, including in Moscow and 28 other regions.
A total of 1,115 international observers and experts from 129 countries monitored the elections.
The newly elected president, expected to be Putin based on initial results, will serve a six-year term, marking his fifth presidential term once officially announced.
