Three men charged in Sweden for IS-linked terror plot

Swedish prosecutors have charged three men with planning a terrorist act in the name of Islamic State (IS) and accused them of ties to domestic organized crime.

The suspects, along with a fourth individual, were also charged with membership in a terrorist organization. The alleged crimes occurred between September 2023 and March 2024.

Arrested in March near Stockholm, the three men reportedly intended to kill or injure but had no specific target. The prosecution stated their actions aimed to spread fear and destabilize Sweden’s social and political structures.

All suspects were linked to an Islamic organization in Tyresö, with one allegedly pledging allegiance to IS and seeking underage attackers. Authorities also found connections to IS in Somalia.

Swedish security services said the arrests likely prevented an attack.
