Trump pushes war talks after two-hour Putin call

Donald Trump announced Russia and Ukraine agreed to “immediately” begin ceasefire talks after his two-hour call with Vladimir Putin.

Putin indicated readiness for a peace memorandum but did not commit to Trump’s 30-day ceasefire request.

Trump, frustrated with the prolonged conflict, expressed optimism about the call on Truth Social.

He mentioned the Vatican, under newly elected Pope Leo XIV, as a potential host for the talks.

Putin described the conversation as “very informative” and “useful,” signaling openness to discussions.

He cited progress from recent Istanbul talks, though further compromises are needed.

Trump reportedly informed Zelensky and European leaders of the resumed talks.

The White House, despite Trump’s optimism, warned of potential sanctions if a deal fails.

Vice President Vance highlighted the “impasse,” suggesting a shift in US stance if Russia resists.

Ongoing Russian attacks and drone strikes in Ukraine underscore the conflict’s continued intensity.
