US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that one of the biggest problems facing Washington is uncertainty over who is currently running Iran, amid upheaval within the country’s leadership.

“The second group of their leaders is gone, and the biggest problem I have is that nobody knows who is running the country,” Trump told reporters, according to Reuters.

Trump also commented on the resignation of Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, claiming the minister stepped down after acknowledging the severity of Iran’s economic and energy problems.

“He resigned after saying they have no oil, no economy and nothing,” Trump said.

The US president again pointed to oil shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz, saying millions of barrels had moved through the strategic waterway over the past two days.

“The United States is in good shape, and Iran is in bad shape,” Trump said.

His remarks come amid continued uncertainty over Iran’s political leadership and mounting pressure on the country’s economy and energy sector.
