
Three more UNRWA staff were killed in Gaza on Monday, tragically raising the total number of agency personnel killed to over 300, the UN reported.
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric confirmed the latest deaths during a press briefing.
UNRWA noted Sunday that this grim milestone of 300 deaths primarily resulted from Israeli forces’ actions, often including family members.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini strongly condemned these killings, stating that “nothing justifies” them and demanding accountability.
Established in 1949, UNRWA supports nearly 5.9 million Palestinian refugees across multiple regions.
Since March 2, Israel has largely closed Gaza crossings to vital aid, exacerbating the severe humanitarian crisis affecting nearly 2.4 million people dependent on assistance.
Israel’s offensive since October 7, 2023, following a Hamas attack, has killed over 53,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children.
