ACL injury rules Leicester’s Fatawu out for the year

Leicester City’s promising Ghanaian winger, Abdul Fatawu, will be out for the remainder of the season due to a severe ACL injury sustained during international duty.

The 20-year-old, who had been a key player for the club this season, suffered the injury during Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola on Friday.

“It’s a serious injury. He’s had an ACL injury that is going to rule him out for the rest of the season,” confirmed Leicester manager Steve Cooper.

This setback is a significant blow for both the player and the club, especially considering Fatawu’s recent impressive performances.

The injury joins a growing list of ACL injuries in European football, with high-profile players like Rodri, Eder Militao, and Dani Carvajal also sidelined with similar issues.

While the news for Fatawu is disheartening, there’s some optimism regarding the injury suffered by another Leicester player, Jordan Ayew.

Although he was also injured during the Ghana match, Cooper believes the injury is less severe and Ayew may be available for the upcoming game against Chelsea.

Leicester currently sits 15th in the Premier League table, while Chelsea occupies the third position.
