Dagalo sworn in as chairman of Sudan’s Presidential Council

Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo was sworn in on Saturday as Chairman of Sudan’s Presidential Council before Chief Justice Ramadan Ibrahim Shemila in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state.

The 15-member council includes regional governors and forms part of the Sudan Founding Alliance’s plan to establish a decentralized system of governance.

Dagalo’s inauguration marks the formal launch of the Peace Government under the 2025 Transitional Constitution of Sudan. The charter abolishes the 2019 Transitional Constitutional Document along with all previous laws, decrees, and regulations.

The new constitution also outlines key priorities for the transitional administration, including halting the wars, achieving a just and lasting peace, and laying the foundations for a restructured Sudanese state.
