International aid convoys rolled toward El Fasher on Saturday as relief operations expanded days after Rapid Support Forces claimed control of the North Darfur capital.
UN agencies said emergency supplies departed from Nyala in South Darfur for civilians in El Fasher and for displaced families sheltering in nearby Tawila.
Footage circulating online showed trucks from the World Food Programme and World Vision en route to the city. The United Arab Emirates has announced a $100 million contribution to support humanitarian efforts for El Fasher residents.
