Airlines increase ticket prices across Sudan routes

Sudanese travel companies have announced sharp increases in airfares across domestic and international routes, reaching up to 22 percent internationally and 10 percent domestically.

They said the adjustments affected ticket prices for Badr Airlines and Tarco Airlines across several regional and international destinations.

A ticket from Khartoum to Port Sudan now costs 774,000 Sudanese pounds, matching the price of the return journey.

The Khartoum–Jeddah route is priced at 1,410,000 pounds, while the Jeddah–Khartoum flight reaches 1,572,000 pounds.

Meanwhile, a flight from Khartoum to Cairo has risen to 1,531,000 pounds, compared with 1,458,000 pounds in the opposite direction.

Aviation experts attribute the surge to rising operational costs, including fuel, maintenance, ground services, and higher aircraft insurance premiums.

They also pointed to regional tensions between Iran and the United States, which have disrupted routes and increased insurance risks.

Reduced flight frequencies to certain destinations have further driven costs higher for airlines operating in fragile conditions.

Experts warn that fares may continue rising unless regional stability improves and global operating costs ease in the coming months.
