SAF airstrike kills 6 family members of former PM Hamdok, journalist says

An airstrike by General al-Burhan’s forces (SAF) killed six members of former Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok’s family in West Kordofan state, a journalist said Monday.

Mohammed Al-Asbat, a Sudanese journalist, reported that the SAF warplanes targeted the town of Al-Debeibat on Sunday, killing Hamdok’s aunt, a cousin and her husband, as well as three of her sisters and their children.

Several neighbors and acquaintances were also killed in the strike, he said.

The SAF has yet to comment on the incident. The ongoing conflict between the SAF and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has led to widespread civilian casualties across the country.

Hamdok, who served as Sudan’s prime minister from 2019 to 2021 before being ousted in a military coup, has not publicly responded to the reported deaths of his family members.
