Political turmoil has intensified in Sudan as the Al-Baraa bin Malik faction openly rejects new directives issued by General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army and demands the dismissal of the Chief of Staff.
The faction, one of the military’s most influential allies, denounced the restructuring measures as catastrophic and accused senior commanders of undermining its role in the conflict.
Its statement came as Burhan’s army began implementing a sweeping plan to identify and classify allied armed groups under a unified command structure.
The move follows an August directive from Commander-in-Chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan requiring all supporting forces to operate within the framework of the Armed Forces Law.
Military sources told that the command launched its reorganisation two months ago by dissolving several mobilisation units tied to pro-army political groups before reconstituting them.
