Closing the second session of the Sudan Founding Alliance’s (TASIS) leadership council, SPLM general secretary Amar Amoun Daldom praised the coalition for installing a new presidential council and naming a prime minister, calling the step “a historic victory for Sudan’s oppressed peoples.”
Key points from Amoun’s address
- Congratulations to new leadership
- Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) confirmed as President of the Republic and chair of the TASIS leadership council.
- Abdel Aziz Adam al-Hilu named Vice-President.
- Mohamed Hassan al-Ta’aishi appointed Prime Minister of the Transitional Peace Government.
- All members of the new presidential council received special commendations.
- Tribute to council members
Amoun singled out veteran politician Fadlallah Burma Nassir and thanked delegates for four days of “discipline and perseverance” that produced consensus decisions on core issues.
- Tasks ahead
- End nationwide wars and craft a “just and comprehensive” peace by tackling Sudan’s root conflicts.
- Strengthen national cohesion and reverse decades of “divide-and-rule” tactics based on ethnicity, religion, region and gender.
- Translate the TASIS charter and draft constitution into concrete reforms, with special emphasis on women and children, whom he called “the most marginalized of the marginalized.”
- Call for sacrifice and resilience
Amoun reminded leaders that the road to freedom “is long and hard,” demanding sustained revolutionary effort and willingness to bear “national responsibility and hardship.”
He closed by saluting delegates for their constructive debates and pledging to reconvene the council soon.
“The struggle continues … victory is certain,” he said.
