Another batch of aid reaches Sudan from Turkey

The second humanitarian aid ship organized by the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), arrived in Sudan on Monday.

According to the official Sudanese news agency SUNA, the aid vessel was greeted at the eastern port of Port Sudan by several senior officials, including Minister of Culture and Information Graham Abdulkadir, Minister of Transportation Abu Bakr Abu al-Qasim, Minister of Investment Ahlam Madani Mahdi, Red Sea State Governor Mustafa Muhammed Nur, and Turkish Ambassador to Khartoum Fatih Yildiz.

In his speech, Minister Abdulkadir emphasized the “strong and deep” relationship between Sudan and Turkey, expressing gratitude for Turkey’s unwavering support during natural disasters, such as the civil war and floods that have severely affected the Sudanese population.

Ambassador Yildiz stated that innocent civilians have borne the brunt of the turmoil in Sudan over the past 17 months, with over 10 million people displaced within the country and more than 2 million seeking refuge abroad.

Highlighting Turkey’s commitment to aiding the Sudanese people during this humanitarian crisis, Yildiz noted that the first “Kindness Ship” arrived in Sudan in July.

He announced, “Today, our second Kindness Ship has docked in Port Sudan, delivering 3,000 tons of humanitarian aid, which includes tents, blankets, essential hygiene products, and food supplies to address urgent shelter needs.”

Yildiz affirmed, “This will not be Turkey’s first or last contribution. As long as Sudan requires assistance, and as long as both Sudan and Turkey exist, our support will continue. When Sudan is ready to rebuild, we will be there to assist in its reconstruction.”

He also mentioned that preparations for the next aid shipment are already underway.
