Arman accuses SAF of killing activist in custody, labels it a war crime

Yasser Arman, leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – Revolutionary Democratic Current, has accused General al-Burhan’s forces (SAF) of killing activist Khaled Al-Zubair, a founder of the Emergency Rooms in Omdurman, after holding him in detention for nearly 21 months.

Arman condemned the killing as “a war crime and a crime against humanity that has no statute of limitations,” calling it part of a systematic campaign of violations against Sudanese citizens. He demanded an immediate explanation from SAF’s Military Intelligence, warning that official silence would only inflame public anger and deepen perceptions of injustice.

He said the killing reflects a broader pattern of repression targeting activists and revolutionaries, urging a national effort to hold perpetrators accountable and end impunity.

His remarks came after the Khartoum State Resistance Committees issued a statement denouncing Al-Zubair’s death in custody, calling it another entry in the “record of gross violations” by Sudan’s Port Sudan SAF junta, and warning that such actions erode prospects for justice and the rule of law.
