Armed robber kills woman, child; RSF launches probe

A woman and a child were killed after gunmen opened fire on a passenger vehicle traveling from Nyala to El Geneina.

The attack occurred last week in Khor Ramla near Kass locality in South Darfur State, according to a victim’s family source.

Several other passengers were wounded after the driver refused to stop when armed men attempted to intercept the vehicle for robbery.

Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces launched an investigation to identify and capture the assailants responsible for the deadly attack.

Drivers reported three armed robbery incidents in recent days along the Nyala-Zalingei-El Geneina road, with gunmen demanding money.

The renewed attacks have raised fears of worsening insecurity as weapons spread and road security remains weak across Darfur.

Darfur’s roads have seen repeated robberies and attacks on civilian vehicles, including incidents near Nyala, Qureida, Zalingei and Kass.
