Burhan army drone strike kills 51 people in Sudan’s Kordofan

A drone strike by forces loyal to General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan’s army in Sudan’s Kordofan region has killed at least 51 people, medical sources said.

The deaths were reported during intense fighting between Burhan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces in the region.

In the city of Dilling, artillery fire and drone strikes battered neighbourhoods on Thursday, killing 28 people and injuring 60 others.

Medical officials said the victims included women and children as shells and explosions struck residential areas.

Another strike blamed on Burhan’s army killed 18 people and wounded 25 in the West Kordofan city of Al-Mojlad.

Sudan’s war between Burhan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces erupted in April 2023 and has since killed tens of thousands.

The conflict has also displaced about 11 million people, creating one of the world’s worst hunger and displacement crises.
