Burhan-led junta appoints new ministers in Sudan

General Abdel Fattah al Burhan-led Port Sudan junta appointed Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris has named five additional ministers to his transitional government, bringing the total appointments to 15. The new cabinet, so-called “Hope,” aims to consolidate power in the hands of General al-Burhan and his SAF.

According to Burhan-run SUNA, the latest appointments include portfolios for Livestock and Fisheries, Culture, Information and Tourism, Mines, Human Resources and Social Services, and Infrastructure and Transportation. Khalid al-Iaysir, who held the Culture and Information post in the previous administration, retained his position and will also oversee Tourism.

Ahmed al-Tijani Abd al-Rahim al-Mansouri will lead Livestock and Fisheries, while Noor al-Da’im Mohammed Ahmed Taha takes over the Ministry of Mines. Mutasem Ahmed Salih Adam has been appointed Minister of Human Resources and Social Services, and Saif al-Nasr al-Tijani Harun Jaber will manage Infrastructure and Transportation.

The final lineup of the 22-member “Hope” government is expected to be completed in the coming days.
