Burhan rejects peace talks and vows war in Sudan

General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has rejected any peace settlements in Sudan, vowing his army will continue fighting until what he calls normal life is restored.

Speaking on Muqrat Island in River Nile State, he ruled out ceasefires and insisted reconciliation must follow the surrender of weapons.

Al-Burhan dismissed recent gains by the Rapid Support Forces in Bara and Dilling, saying they will not affect his stance.

The conflict between Burhan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces has raged since April 2023, leaving tens of thousands dead.

The war has also displaced millions, casting a long shadow over Sudan as hopes for peace remain distant.
