Armed factions allied with SAF chief, Gen. Abdel Fattah al Burhan, have rejected any political settlement involving the rival Rapid Support Forces (RSF), intensifying the country’s prolonged war.
In a statement the Joint Force of Armed Movements in Darfur said it would not accept any negotiation “that equates the legitimate state” with RSF.
The coalition, which fought alongside the Burhan’s army and includes signatories of the 2020 Juba Peace Agreement, reaffirmed its loyalty to Burhan’s forces and vowed to continue battling the RSF. The statement urged citizens to rally behind the SAF and state institutions, calling this “a critical stage that requires national mobilisation until victory is achieved.”
The declaration came as Washington proposed a three-month humanitarian truce between Burhan and the RSF to pave the way for a permanent ceasefire. Neither side has publicly responded to the initiative.
